Dental Crowns
Serious dental damage need not be the end of your tooth. Crowns are used to save a tooth that has been seriously damaged by decay/fractures that cannot be repaired by a filling. They also help preserve teeth weakened by root canal treatment. They may be an appropriate option that enhances your health, protects your teeth, and brightens the appearance of your smile.
Our team loves to help you on your oral health journey with dental crowns. If you are ready to take the next step in restoring your tooth, call our office in Hillsborough for a team that cares for you.

How Dental Crowns Can Help
A dental crown is a custom-made restoration that covers and protects a damaged or weakened tooth. Designed to look and function like a natural tooth, crowns are crafted from durable, lifelike materials that restore both strength and beauty to your smile. They are often recommended after root canal treatment to safeguard the tooth, but they can also be used to repair teeth with large fillings, fractures, or significant wear.
At Precision Dental Group, we use advanced technology to ensure your crown is precisely fitted and built to last, giving you both comfort and confidence in your restored smile.
Dental Crowns for Dental Implants
Dental crowns are the preferred choice for restoring a single-tooth dental implant. This restorative piece will attach to your dental implant to function as the visible part of your tooth.
We custom-make your dental crowns to comfortably and securely attach to your dental implant.
The Benefits of a Dental Crown
Crowns not only preserve the structure of a compromised tooth but also improve its appearance, blending seamlessly with the rest of your smile. They can also prevent teeth from needing to be extracted, as they offer protection for a tooth that may be prone to fracture.
Our dental crowns are aesthetically pleasing and can restore the appearance of a tooth that has a crack or discoloration that is damaging your confidence.
What Does Getting a Dental Crown Look Like?
Dental crowns are typically completed in 2 visits. At the first visit, the tooth is reshaped in preparation for a future crown. An impression or scan is taken and sent to a professional laboratory to fabricate a bespoke crown.
A temporary crown will be placed to protect the tooth. Please click on Post Operative Care to see how you should take care of your temporary crown.
During your second visit, the crown will be fitted, adjusted, polished, and cemented permanently.
Dental Technology for Better Crowns
Digital Impressions for Your Comfort
Physical impressions can be difficult to take and may not always be as accurate. Our Trios 3D intraoral scanner takes digital impressions so your crown can fit better the first time you try it, all without the messiness of traditional impressions.
PFM Crowns for Durability
Porcelain-fused-to-metal (or PFM) crowns are the traditional materials used for crowns. They use a porcelain outer shell to be aesthetic, but offer durability and fracture resistance of metal so you can chew and smile with comfort and confidence.
Zirconia Crowns for Enhanced Aesthetics
Zirconia crowns are more aesthetic than PFM crowns as they eliminate unsightly metal margins that can show up along the gumline as the crowns age. They are extremely fracture resistant, resist staining, and can have porcelain overlaid to look as natural as possible. They are also biocompatible as some patients may be allergic to the metals in PFM crowns.
