Learn More About All-on-X

All-on-X Dental Implants is a full-arch implant procedure that can replace all your missing teeth. The “X” in All-on-X refers to the customizable number of implants used, typically ranging from 4 to 6. These implants will be used to support a full set of upper or lower teeth, instead of one implant per tooth.

Our comprehensive approach to dentistry means that we value your oral health and overall health. All-on-X securely anchors to your jawbone to stimulate bone density, all while providing a more comfortable anchor point for your custom denture or bridge.

Your Experience with All-on-X

All-on-X offers amazing benefits for our patients. We recommend All-on-X to many of our patients because it:

Provides a strong, natural-looking, and comfortable smile that stays securely in place.

Eliminates the need for removable dentures so you can eat, speak, and smile confidently without worry.

Offers a long-lasting, hassle-free solution that helps maintain jawbone health and facial structure.

Why Choose Implants Over Dentures?

Dentures may be the right solution for some, but they are often uncomfortable or inconvenient.

All-on-X solves the same cosmetic and functional issues that dentures do while improving your comfort and the aesthetics of your smile. All-on-X even provides increased satisfaction when you eat, compared to a denture.

Traditional dentures rest on top of the gums and rely on suction, adhesives, or careful positioning to stay in place. While they can restore the appearance of a full smile, they do not replace the missing tooth roots beneath the gums. Over time, this can allow the jawbone to gradually shrink, which may change the fit of dentures and affect facial structure. It can even cause consistent jaw pain and facial sagging.

Because of this structure, implant-supported teeth can provide several functional and oral health benefits:

  • Improved Stability and Chewing Function: Implant-supported restorations are securely anchored in the jawbone, allowing you to bite and chew more confidently than with removable dentures.
  • Support for Jawbone Health: Dental implants stimulate the jawbone during everyday use, helping reduce the bone loss that often occurs after teeth are lost.
  • Better Long-Term Oral Health: Implant restorations do not rely on neighboring teeth for support, helping preserve the structure and health of surrounding teeth.
  • A More Natural Feel: Because implants integrate with the bone, they can feel more similar to natural teeth and do not shift or move during daily activities.

For many patients, All-on-X offers a way to restore both the appearance and function of a full smile while supporting long-term oral health. At Precision Dental Group, Dr. Chu and Dr. Wong carefully evaluate your bone structure, oral health, and goals to determine whether implant-supported teeth may be the right solution for you.

Am I a Candidate for All-on-X?

All-on-X is designed to help more people qualify for implants, even those who may not have been considered in the past. You may be a candidate if you:

  • Have multiple missing teeth
  • Experience difficulty with dentures
  • Have good or moderate bone density in your jaw
  • Want a long-term solution
  • Desire improved confidence and increased function

If you previously thought you would not qualify for dental implants due to a lack of bone for the implants, All-on-X may still work for you. Since the number and placement of the implants are customized using our advanced planning and imaging technology, All-on-X helps more people qualify for implants.

Bone grafts or sinus grafts are sometimes necessary to prepare the jaw for dental implants. Dental implants require a stable foundation of healthy bone to remain secure and function properly. If bone loss has occurred due to missing teeth, gum disease, or natural changes in the jaw over time, grafting procedures can help rebuild that support.

A bone graft adds specialized grafting material to areas where the jawbone has thinned or weakened. Over time, this material integrates with your natural bone and encourages new bone growth, strengthening the area for future implant placement.

A sinus graft, sometimes called a sinus lift, is typically performed in the upper back jaw when the sinus cavity sits too close to where implants are planned. This procedure gently raises the sinus membrane and places bone graft material beneath it, creating the space needed for stable implant support.

Change Your Diet and Your Life with Secure Dentures

One issue with traditional dentures or a damaged smile is decreased function. Eating may be an issue, and you may find that you can no longer enjoy your favorite foods. A dysfunctional smile can also severely damage your digestion, as food will not be properly chewed before being swallowed. Increasing the function of your smile by giving you something stable to eat and speak with can increase your overall health in many ways.

The All-on-X Process

Proper oral hygiene at home is key to maintaining oral health. Here are some of our home-care tips:

  • Consultation: The All-on-X procedure begins with a comprehensive exam and advanced digital imaging to plan your treatment with precision.
  • Extractions: If you have any remaining teeth in the arch we are replacing, we conduct gentle extractions and bone grafts so you can have a successful permanent prosthetic.
  • Treatment Plan: Using 3D scans, our team determines the ideal number and placement of implants to securely support your full arch restoration.
  • Implant Placement: Typically, 4–6 implants are placed strategically in the jawbone to maximize strength and stability. Once the implants are in position, a temporary set of teeth is attached so you can leave our office with a complete smile the same day.
  • Final Restorations: After your implants integrate with the bone, we replace the temporary set with your final custom restoration—designed to look natural, feel comfortable, and function like your own teeth.

We meticulously match the color and contours of your gums to your new denture restorations for the most natural-looking, confidence-boosting smile.

All-on-X restorations are designed to provide long-term stability, function, and comfort. While the implants themselves cannot develop cavities, the surrounding gums and supporting bone still require proper care to remain healthy. Maintaining a consistent oral hygiene routine and attending regular dental visits are essential for protecting your implant-supported smile.

Caring for Your New Restorations

Brush Twice Daily

Use a soft-bristled toothbrush or electric toothbrush to clean the restoration and gumline. Gentle brushing removes plaque and bacteria that can collect around the implants and along the prosthetic teeth.

Clean Around the Implants

Special tools such as water flossers, floss threaders, or interdental brushes can help clean underneath and around the restoration. These areas can trap food particles and plaque if they are not cleaned regularly.

Maintain Healthy Gums

Healthy gums are essential for implant success. Keeping the gum tissue clean and free of inflammation helps support the implants and protects the bone surrounding them.

Attend Routine Dental Visits

Professional cleanings and exams allow your dental team to evaluate the condition of the implants, surrounding tissue, and restoration. These visits also help remove buildup in areas that are difficult to reach at home.

Protect Your Restoration

Just like regular teeth, avoid using them for opening bags or chewing on things that aren’t your food. Manage your tooth grinding to keep your restoration safe.

With proper care and regular dental visits, All-on-X restorations can provide a reliable and functional solution for many years. Your dental team at Precision Dental Group will continue to monitor your implants and guide you on the best ways to maintain your restored smile.

Common Questions About All-on-X

The restorations last several years, depending on oral health and care for the restorations. Since implants are placed in your jaw, they are a permanent part of your smile after you get them, able to last a lifetime with proper care.

It depends on whether you still have any healthy, natural teeth left. If you have multiple healthy teeth in an arch, we may recommend a more conservative option. If your teeth are no longer healthy, All-on-X can help you restore function, but it requires removing the unhealthy teeth first.

Any adult can benefit from All-on-X if they have an arch of teeth that is no longer functional or has several oral health issues or cosmetic concerns.

We may be able to place dentures and then offer temporary dentures shortly after, so you can continue to live your life while going through treatment. You might even be able to wear a temporary soon after removing your teeth while waiting for us to place your implants.

After the healing period, most patients are able to enjoy a wide variety of foods again. Implant-supported teeth provide improved stability compared to traditional dentures, allowing you to bite and chew more comfortably. Your dentist will guide you through dietary recommendations during the healing phase to protect the implants.

The timeline can vary depending on your oral health and whether additional procedures are needed. Some patients receive a temporary restoration soon after implant placement, allowing them to maintain normal daily activities while the implants heal and integrate with the bone. Once healing is complete, a final custom restoration is placed.
